Hi :)

So.. I feel like I'm a little late to the party, but better late then never.

Recently I got into Civ 5 again but I was really sad that there is no actual science focused civ (Korea aside, I just don't like their trait).
So I wanted to make my own civ. So far no problem.

Kael's guide might be outdated on some parts (as I heard!), but I still followed it step by step because it seems pretty reliable and working.
So I did following: I created a new Civ, a new leader, a trait assigned to the leader (every tile improvement and feature provides +2 science), 2 new units (I kept unitclasses but made unique units out of the mech and pathfinder - well, I just renamed the type and changed some stats) and 6 new buildings (I basically copied the strategic ressource building mod and made it to unique buildings for my civ + i gave the palace the +1 science per 2 pop., like the library does).

At first a lot didn't work out because I made a few mistakes here and there, so I couldn't even start a game with my civ chosen. A few hours (yes, I'm dumb 'n slow) later everything worked out tho and I could get into the game.
However, everytime it crashes around round 80 to 100 and I just can't figure out why.

Oh, I also want to mention (just in case) that I tried using my own icons. It didn't work out at all so I use existing icons for now and deleted my icon files. I didn't forget to change everything back to normal tho, so there shouldn't be errors with icon references or something like that.

And when we're at it: you know this line every turn where it says something like e.g. (Lord) [leader] of [civ].
Is there a possibility to customize this line? Let's say I want it always to be "Commander [leader] of [civ]".

I'll include the built mod to this thread, just in case you might need it or want to check it.

Much thanks in advance!!! :)

Your civ has no spy names assigned to it. For BNW and G&K you need at least 9 spy names assigned to the civ or else you get CTD as soon as you or any AI player enters the Renaissance Era.

I did not look any further into your mod to see if you have other issues.

Also, you've started the thread in the tutorials and references sub-forum. You should start your threads asking questions or for assistance in the main civ5 Creation & Customization forum. I've reported the thread to the moderators so they know to move it.

Thank you SO much! The spy names were the only thing I had to change in order for it to work.
I also found the updated modding guide as I looked up how to change spy names.
This helped so much and I'm also able to improve the mod now.

Thanks again! :D

But I still couldn't figure how to change the line '[title] [leader] of [civilization]'. e.g. Elizabeth the Terrible of England to something permanent I like. :/

I vaguely recall that they had to do something with the Policy Trees and/or ideology trees that you chose. Though I don't know whether it turned out that those were hardcoded or not...
