help needed vista 64-bit

OK up until a few days ago (i havent played civ 4 gold in awhile) every time i ran civ 4 gold it ran just fine no problems at all.

but i tried to start it up today and it came up with the screen that you hit play on then the small loading screen popped up as usual with the word loading in several languages but before it gets to the screen with teh actually loading bar it just stops and doesnt go on.

i waited a while but it still didnt do anything windows doesnt even give me a warning that it isnt working or anything it just doesnt do anything at att

i have no idea what may have caused this it ran just fine last time i played it any ideas?
