SO this is only like my second game of civ3. It is on a pangea map. I am wondering what to do next , ima bit lost

Industrial age(may have made some bad reaserch decisions)
Rail network is also behind as i had no0 coal and i had o wate several turns until the Ai would give it to me.

I am thinking of attacking the inca when the rop expires in 11 turns. Should i stay in democracy or try switching to commie or something for war weariness.

I also have no armies so that sucks.

Ps This is on warlord lvl.

Thanks in advance

First, welcome to CivFanatics! :wavey:

The fact that you made it TO the industrial age in your second game is a good sign. It's also good that you're playing Warlord level, instead of staying on Chieftain.

I wouldn't worry about switching governments just to fight a war. Though Democracy isn't as durable as Republic... if you fight well, keep your losses low, and keep the war short then war weariness shouldn't be too much of an issue.

If you post a save it will be easier for others to look at your game and offer more specific advice.

Welcome to CFC, Deadlock!

I'm afraid that I don't have time to really look at your save in depth, but here are a few things that I see.

1) Yeah, if you made it to the industrial age in your second game, that's good.
2) The save is 1645 AD. Most games are really won or lost in the ancient age, and it's a little tough to tell what you may have done right or wrong with so late a save. An earlier save, along with a log of what you've done, might be more helpful.
3) Why are you giving ROP, Iron, Gems, Dyes and Wines to the Inca for an ROP?!?
4) Why are you in anarchy? If this is your first government change, it's awfully late. If that's the case, you probably could have kicked the Inca off your continent a long time ago if you'd switched to another government earlier. If it's not your first government change, why are you switching again?
5) You've got tons of unused tiles in your empire. You could shoe-horn in a few more cities in your territory.
6) Looks like you've already put the hurt on at least a couple of civs. Well done!
7) I see a few buildings that I probably wouldn't have built, but I don't know what your chosen victory condition is.

Thanks ,

I was changing gov to commie from demo(expecting a war with inca after rop ends), and for the things to the inca it was for 2-3 techs i dont rememebr , i had fallenabit behind so...:crazyeye:

I played a few more turns and me and the iruqouis are at war with the inca. I took 2 of their border cities and i am sieging their capital. but its turned into a bit of a stalemate.... my cannon bombarment keeps failing(about 10 cannons),they also had a big stack of crusaders that weakened me a bit..

Any tips on taking a well devennded size 19 city  ..... oh and should i consider war mobilization???

One more thing if i break an war allience with iroquois by making peace to regroup would that kill my rep... theres still like 10-11 turns left?

Any tips on taking a well defended size 19 city

Hello, and welcome!

Yes, read scoutsouts article in the war academy on basic military tactics.

Simply, Step One; you gather all your available attackers in one huge stack

Step two; move the stack up to the target city
Step three; bombard with cannon/artillery
Step four; attack with knights/cavalry/tanks ( whichever youve got, strongest first)
Step Five; If needed attack the remaining weakened defenders with your footsoldiers-again strongest units attack first
.

If that doesnt work, you need more modern units or simply a larger quantity of whatever you have.

OK. While it is possible to wage successful wars in the representative governments, it can get tricky due to War Weariness. IIRC, there's even a War Academy article on doing so. Like scoutsout mentioned: "if you fight well, keep your losses low, and keep the war short then war weariness shouldn't be too much of an issue. "

You're already in anarchy in the save, so you're going to have to pick something. I've never gone Communist (so someone who knows better might, well, know better than I), but Communist might not be a bad choice in your situation. Truthfully, though, I can't say one way or the other without taking a longer look at your save and I just don't have time to do so. That and not having ever played Communist doesn't help my knowledge base here.

And as for the trades, that makes a little more sense. I couldn't see what techs you'd gotten for the trade. At Warlord, you can outresearch the AI. Perhaps not in your second game, but you'll get there. One thing, though. The AI likes to use entertainers to keep its cities happy, and trading them luxes lets them put those people back to work. Use caution when trading them luxes.

By the way, take a look in the War Academy. There are some great articles there.

The article mentioned by Ringo Kid is called, "Warmongering 101: A Tactical Primer."

One more thing if i break an war allience with iroquois by making peace to regroup would that kill my rep... theres still like 10-11 turns left?
Yes, you'll damage your rep. Pretty much any time you make a 20-turn deal and then you end it early, you'll take a rep hit. There are even situations (like having a barb galley break a trade route) when it's not your fault, but you'll still take the rep hit.

However, regrouping doesn't automatically mean you have to make peace. You can pull units back and fight defensively until you get units in place. That way, you regroup, but don't have to break the alliance by formally making peace.

Also, one other thing I noticed. You've got 29 cities, 12 native workers and 10 slaves. You need more workers and need them earlier. Slaves work half as fast as normal workers, so you need twice as many of them (to complete jobs in the same time), but they also cost no upkeep, so it doesn't matter how many you keep around. Build more of them, and don't hesitate to buy them off of the AI, or capture them if at war, particularly in the early game. The AI is notoriously bad about not building enough workers and buying the few that they build will slow down their development.

One other small item I noticed in your game is that all of your opponents are American civs...inca, aztec, iroquois, etc. When you first choose your world settings, if you check "Culturally linked start location", you will ALWAYS get the American civs in every game you play. Not checking that box will give you random opponents.

I don't know if you wanted those civs on purpose, but I always wonder when there are zero European or Asian civs in the game.

Thanks for all the tips .Unfortunately i havent had time to pick up the game again:(
