Help please - BTS Crashes at startup

I have just installed BTS having CIV4 1.74.

Launching the game it immediately crashes : after a blank screen, the Microsoft windows showing that an error occurrred is shown.

The same happens also after to have installed the patch 3.17.

A log file is generated with the following content:

What can I do to solve this problem?

After to have red some posts around here i have activated the logging and i have found in the resmgr log file the following error:

RESMGR: Scene file Art/Terrain/Lights/TerrainLight.nif failed to load. Reason: (code:1) Cannot open file

Hope in some help to solve this.... I would like at least to see the starting menu

Found the solution, post it in case this can be useful sfor some other.

Searching the file mentioned in the log file I have discovered that it was only in the dir of the Mod called Afterworld.

I dont know why the setup didnt install it in the right directory, anyway copying it there the game has correctly started.

Strange, my install doesn't have that file anywheres except in that Mod folder...

I was too optimistic thinking to have solved my problem and im going mad really cursing my decision to buy this product.

Now after to have set all the initial info to start the game when it just starts to load the resources i get again the crash screen on Windows.

The log file shows that several files are not found (for example the one related Caesar Augustus and the ones that should stay in a directory called 'CoastBlendmask')

What is going wrong?

Thanks for the help you are trying to give me.

Im at work now and I cant send the log, but i will do when back at home.

What I can say for now is that BTS seems to try to load files installed in different folder respect where they really are.

Over all I tried to find with windows search the folder 'CoastBlendmask' but it doesnt exist.

I havel already uninstalled and reinstalled CIV4 and BTS at least 3 times without any effect.

oh and I assume you have not completely enabled logging: open the civilizationIV.ini for bts and set all items with log in their name from 0 to 1 - then crash the game and post the contents of the my games\beyond the sword\logs folder

I have understood which is the issue: I have bought the Trygames's digital download version of CIV 4 and have the boxed version of BTS.

No problems at all when i tried to install BTS on a PC of a friend having the boxed version of CIV 4.

The problem persists also installing the Trymedia's CIV 4 patch 1.74.

That really sucks!!!!

Now have an interesting question: Is it at this point illegal to install on my PC the CIV 4 of my friend with a no-cd patch to be able to use what I have purchased (both CIV 4 and BTS)? Is it not more illegal that Trygames doenst clearly states when you buy a game from them that you will not be able to use any expansion you eventually buy?

In this case, I'd have to say completely within your legal right
And you don't need a noCD anything. Once you install CIV-IV vanilla, you'll not need the CD's again - if all you are doing is playing BTS.

My systems tend to get wiped more often than not these days, to ease reinstallation, I copied all 3 games' CDs over to HD folders. They install like speedDemons HD to HD
