Ok, I have never played before, picked it up because I need something to play. I got the gold edition, which has Warloards, but not BTS. I have a few questions:confused:. What does the little Recycle like symbol next the other leaders names mean. I think it is a trade network, but im not sure, how do I get it next to my name? Also, the "Fat Cross" isn't really a cross right, just a box around the city? Are there any Civs you like to play for a specific reason, I was going with greece so far, I like the Phalanx. I really like it so far, eventhough the turn based gameplay and the idea of big troops representing a bunch of small ones are still new to me, I am getting used to them. Thanks in advance for any help.

Welcome to Civ Fanatics. The recycling arrows mean that the opposing empire is connected to your trade route. Since you cannot trade with your own empire, you will never get the arrows next to your name, so don't worry about it. As for the "Fat cross", that is the curtural borders of your first city after it expands once.

I like playing as the Germans because both Frederick and Bismark are good leaderheads. I know their unique unit isn't that great, but I'm more of a tech whore than a warmonger anyway. If you really like this game, definitely look into getting BtS, because it has a bunch of new features not included in Warlords.

If you're new to the game, it might be a good idea to select random civ in your game creation options. That will give you a chance to learn the strengths and weakness of all the civs in the game, not just one. I use that option all the time anyway as I prefer the variety it adds to the game. I never know who I'm going to end up as next.

Thanks, I was going to get BTS but I decided to test the game first incase I didn't like it. I am more of a war monger, mostly because before I played the tutorial I couldn't figure out how to get alot of gold or food or production. I didn't know you had to decide what tiles to work, lol. So it would get to a point where my citys would get sick and angry so I had to whip them away. I'm gonna go play a game as a random civ now.

My top 5 favorite warmongers so far:

1) Byzantines
2) Rome
3) Greece
4) Mongolia
5) Aztecs

With honorable mention going to Sumerian, Japan, and Viking.

Ok, I started a game and got the Germans. I am to about 200 AD and need some help. I'm trying to get some screenshot software so I can take a pic, but since I'm on a laptop, I don't have a print screen button, so I downloaded some freeware. I will edit when I get it going. I am having trouble keeping my cities happy, and are low in the standings, but everyone is pleased with me, except with one person. I have made the decision to go diplomatic, I think it is the right decision. @ GooglyBoogly: How would I go about posting a save? I really hope this works, I'm new at this, so mods, please don't kill me if it is too big or small.

[/IMG] I screwed that up, anyone know where I might have went wrong, I was using Imageshack. Im gonna go for the whole save next.

It should be found in My Documents/My Games/Civilization 4/Saves folder. Although this is for vanilla. Using warlords there should be a Warlords folder in either My games or the Civ 4 folder.

Wow that was easy :D I dont really expect anyone to have this on their priorities list, but an assessment on where I went wrong and how I might improve my game would be wonderful. Thanks for all of your help. Also, out of curiosity, what is pit boss? There is an application, I didn't open it because I was busy but I remember hearing the name of it.

I like playing with Gandhi as with Phi I can get great people upto 1 every 7 turns!
Spi helps me change my religion and civics when another nation demands it for the relations boost.
Fast workers are cool. Why, they move faster than cavalry
