Here's the situation: I'm playing as Lal and am largely winning. My only weakness is my lack of military strength. Yang is aware of this and is taking advantage of it by demanding credits and technologies. When I say no, he declares war and conquers U.N. Headquarters. What should I do? Refocus my efforts to military matters? Unquestionably succumb to his demands? Do my best to get something in return? Just ignore him as long as possible? All input would be appreciated:D!

Well more info would be very useful. But here is your first move:

Give in at the moment because you might have trouble otherwise.

Next:

Yang usually does not have huge probe advantages and always has credit issues. You may be able to engage his military by buying it out. This approach will help supplement your military.

Building a defensive force(that doesn't mean defender units though) should allow you to make an assault expensive on his part and ultimately in your favor.

What does his neighbor situation look like? What military techs do both of you have? Relative production capabilities?
