help with a late game ctd

hi,

i really hope someone can help,
im kinda desperate,

i have in my mod,
overlord2 mod, a ctd on late stages , after somthing like 2000 turns,

ive ran tests with autoai , tiny world standart world, with some stable sdk codes that ive tested like dale.

ive turned on the logs, and fixed everything i could read from it and still having a ctd after 1500 turns +.

im certain the ctd is in the xml, but ive struck a dead end.

hope someone can help me.

Could it be out of memory crashes ?

Become many mods tend to increase texture resoltuins, polycounts etc. These changes "seem" not to affect performance at first glance, but in a longer game, in a era, where many of the units in quiestion are fielded at the same time, it might strike back.
 
I don't think anyone is going to be able to devine what your problem is just from knowing that it is Overlord2 mod, small map, and thousands of turns in. It would help to know some of the circumstances that surrond your CTD, is there any war, what was just built, do you push anything and then it crashes or are you just watching it and it crashes on its own?

The more data the better. "I have a CTD can someone help" doesn't help anyone. :)
 
yeah i know jeckel...

thats the thing, i have no idea whats the cause cause it kinda random and i cant point the finger.

what is a dump file? i changed an option and when theres a ctd i get the option to create a dump file, what it does, i have no idea,

wish there was a system thqat can tell you whats the cause for the ctd.

i dunno.. maybe ill just wait for colonization and mod there anew mod.

How are you sure it will not get worse there :lol:

I assume you have all logging options, python exceptions enabled and there is nothing to be seen
 
I don't remember the name, but there is a function that you give a name of a log file (doesn't have to be a default log file, you can make up your own) and some thing to write to the file.

Maybe try writing some debug messages to the log and see what is happening at various points.

Does the CTD show ONLY after several thousand turns? If it doesn't show any earlyer then I would point to some kind of memory allocation/overrun/leak kinda thing and chalk it up to Civ4 and not your mod.
 
yeah guys, i made the the logs availble,

i indeed captured some bugs,
but,
the ctd only apears after playing between 1500-2500 turns not before, and ive tetsed more the a doaen trials.

im sure its not a mem allocation, cause thois only happens in large scale games of civ,

plus,
another thing,
i have two versions,
one with some more stuff, and one a little thinner,
the "thinner version....does not have the ctd, so im certain its something in the xml,
but dont know what it is, ive gone through the files tons of times, nothing out of the ordinary that ive seen.
