Ok, i love the caracteristic of the aztecs(militirastic and agricultural, with a fast unit, means alot of territory). However, i'm having trouble with early war. When i encounter a civ's city, and that it's guarded by a warrior, you'd think i'd have some pretty good chances of winning, right? Well...i can snd 5-6 jag warriors, they ALL lose. I don,t expect to win all the time, just to win SOMe time. Can someone gimme pointers on how to have succes on early warfare with aztecs?

On a completly different matter, how can i change my font, and keep it that way? i got extreme(god it's ugly), and everytime i log on, i have it. I can't find the menu to change the font. Help would be appreciated.

Well, their attack and defense are exactly the same.

Warrior's defense = 1
Jag's attack = 1

It also depends on the terrain they're (the warriors) on. Hills, forest, jungle, mountains, etc. give a higher defense bonus. Also, rivers have a defense bonus if you attack across them.

The manual?

Everything confers some defensive bonus to it -- 10% on grassland, plains, desert, tundra. 25% for Forest/Jungle, 50% for hills... 100% for Moutains. If your adversary attacks from cross the river, you get a 25% bonus. Those numbers may not all be accurate, but I know some of them are.

In cities, the number of citizens, buildings, and any defensive structures (wall, civil defense) will confer bonuses on their defenders.

Tranquility,

The Jag is NOT intended as a primary offensive weapon. Its real purpose is as a harrasment unit. A proper Aztec early rush would look something like this:

1. Standard offensive force of any combination of; archers, horsemen an/or swords.

2. A small group of Jags that enter the enemy border areas 1 to 2 turns BEFORE your primary attack force arrives. Their purpose is three-fold:

a) to pillage enemy roads and resoucrses, and

b) most importantly as a diversionary force that entices the enemy units out of the cities in a chase they can never succeed at - this then allows your primary offensive force to hit the city with fewer units within it and/or near by. This strat requires great attention to detail and good timing.

c) at least 2 Jags will accompany the primary force for the purpose of attacking an already weakened enemy unit and intiating a GA (if that is your goal).

This is no longer PTW, where you can simply load up on Jags and run 'human wave' attacks - the unit is now far more subtle to use effectively.

No, The number of buildings and number of citizens give no defense bonus whatsoever.

Not quite true.

Some building improvments give you defensive bonus. Walls and Civil Defense. And, you get a defensive bonus if you town is a city and a bigger one if it is a metropolis.

OBVIOUSLY.........
