Help with runtime error

Hi All -- I used to play civ3 and 4 GOTM, and am back looking to play the GOTM in civ 5. I have all the DLC and expansion packs necessary, but when I go to load up the file, I am getting a runtime error associated with directX.
My version number is different from the GOTM (1.03.18 instead of 1.03.144) but I don't know how to fix this if this is the problem. Can someone help?

Have you tried to verify game on steam and that the game is set as always update ?
