My people are all unhappy. It's 1 AD and I have no wonders of the world, though I've been trying for an eternity to get them finished. The AIs have two already...

WHAT'S WITH DEITY?!

Anthony

Happiness is the total key in deity you have to get hanging gardens first.
it's 1000ad for me and I only have Gardens, Chapel, Workshop, and Statue.
the rest aren't that important. I rush to expand, hold my civilization together with monarchy while expanding my infastcuture with the mere fact of having the gardens.
You have to take diety in different stages than a regular game, you can't go off building alot of libararies or marketplaces.

Actually I never build Hanging Gardens, even in deity. However, I do rush to Michaelangelo's Chapel and J.S.Bach's Cathedral. Usually I'm busy building another wonder so that I can change that to these two wonders. The reason I never build Hanging Gardens is simple: I never build wonders which become obsolete. And in about every game (especially a deity one) I will reach Railroad, which also has a high priority.

Well done, Johan!

1000 A.D. and you have the Workshop AND the Statue!! That's a pretty good date to get those two wonders on Deity level.

I thought I was rolling along pretty well, but I don't think I will have either Invention or Democracy before 1000 A.D. - let alone have the wonders built.

Well..I started wandering and found a decent OCC site and thought:"what the heck" and am now playing it OCC.One small problem was the potential city square was forest so I had to cut it down first which delayed founding Rome for abit but its going ok.A little slow but ok.

No medal for me in GoM4.But I'll be looking to see if you were beaten to AC by 1 city

I'm at around 1200 ad right now and have Hanging Gardens, Great Library, Leo's Workshop, Cop's Observatory, KR's Crusade, and I'm praying I'm not beat to Sun Tzu's. I was trounced soundly on the race to Statue of Liberty, which hurts, and I've been in perpetual war with the English since I met them.

What drives me crazy, however, is that the English got Writing as I was researching Gunpowder, and I slowed my research so I could get the Workshop first, fearing a swarm of diplomats the moment I got it. I'm #1 in research and the turn after I build the Workshop I get Gunpowder... from the Great Library! This is going to be a brutal, bloody game if I keep playing it military.

In my game the AI built the Hanging Garden and Lighthouse wonders by 1AD but thanks to caravans I was able to build the Colossos and Great Wall. I am now at 1000AD and have completed the Oracle and Sun Tzu's and will complete Mike's Chapel next turn. I have also been lucky and just captured Marco Polo. The AI has built Pyramids and the Great Library. I am going to try and finish this game without making any treaties and keeping a spotless reputation.

this is GOTM4...when u are the rocking chinese!

My civ developed slowly until I got my monarchy (I don't understand why my wise dudes wouldn't give me the opportunity to learn in despite me having the pre-requisits.)

I am in the 16th centuary now with huge colonisation...a large population, great wonders, but lamer tech as the A.I lamely never swapped tech!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!arrgh.
