Hey everyone! I just got into playing civilization, and i have a few questions.
Playing on the earth map, in North america there's a forked river. I put a city between the forks but i couldn't build any sea units. Is this because i am on a river? Do i need to be on the coast to builg battleships and the like?
Also, a friend told me that before you build your first city, you should irrigate/mine/build roads/etc. all the squares around your city so you will have more food/shields/trade right away. I thought that it would just slow me down, and it would be better to build a city first. What do you guys think?
thanks for the help!
