I like chess every now and then in real life, but i wodner how the notion system works for chess like you guys do it here in the forum. A quick tutorial might be handy ;).

Also, could someone be so kind to try and do a little match with me?

Also, i'm sure many use some sort of software to visualise these moves. What is recommended here?

Oh my, you have brutally many posts. Hi there. Faster than typing a lot of text is pointing you to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Algebraic_chess_notation. If you have any questions after that I'll try to answer.

Your location in your public file doesn't tell me anything. But I guess you are in the US as everyone else which makes it difficult to coordinate games as I'm in Europe. Perhaps Narz can play a game or two if he has time.

Commercial software include Fritz and Chessmaster. There are some free ones that you can easily find reference to by looking at the other posts on this forum.

lurker's comment: Chavistan happens to be the very center of Europe, in this case. IRL it's called Belgium. ;)

Hi Phil. I'll play you on chess.com if you like. If you want to play a live game (as opposed to a coorespondence game) PM me & we can set up a time (or aprox. period of time, ideally evening EST as I have no Internet @ home or work right now).

Also, the next annual CFC touney should start up within a month if you want to join.

Cheers. :)

that would be cool. I'll be moving around first, so i don't know exactly i'll have a stable internet connection, but i'll contact you sometime in the next week to set up a game. Thanks btw. :)

I used to be a half-decent player (that meant taking on Chessmaster opponents between ratings 1400-1700 and winning bit less than half of those games). Don't remember my final score though:blush:

But I'd be glad to play a live game with anybody who'd feel like it. Feel free to PM me.

If you sign up at Queen Alice, I'd be happy to play some games with you Phil. (If you don't mind playing with a raging fundie, of course ;) )

oh cool and thank you for all the offers. sorry Narz that i won't be able to play this week but university life is really keeping me away from my computer :D i'll play with all of you three sometime in the future(possibly this weekend), that is a promise.

I already played a game on queenalice this weekend vs kraznaya.

should i switch to chess.com or just stick with queenalice?

You could keep playing on both of course, but I prefer chess.com and the only games I'm still playing on QueenAlice are from tournaments I joined months ago. I'm also playing a few games on Facebook but I'm not going to start new ones & plan to play exclusively on chess.com in the future.
