It may be a run of bad luck, but every game I have had since the last patch Hiawatha becomes an unstoppable steam roller. How is it he can be so much better than even the Germans at war? He was taking like 2-3 German cities every turn and they had gobbled up America. And once he gets airplanes, <italian>forgetaboutit</italian>. He and Ramkapang are slowly turning me racist.
EDIT: I tried to make this into a poll but it didn't work.

Strange, in most games I play he sucks ass, either bottles up or if he tries to kick ass gets rolled by France or Rome.

I find it's either Babylon, Persia, or Arabia that always blow ahead of the pack. Especially Persia lately.

I actually haven't encountered Hiawatha much post-patch. Before the latest patch, Hiawatha was usually barely kicking after starting wars and having his cities get taken from him.

In my first post patch game he was a beast... The score didn't lie either:

Most Civs ~500-700
Me ~ 900
Him ~ 1700

He was just steam rolling his continent. I had a plan to deal with him, but sadly the game completely crapped itself. Apparently my computer runs worse since the new patch.

I can't say Hia always dominates my games but I don't think I remember a game where he was doing poorly. The Mohawks help of course, but I'm pretty sure his starting bias is what gives him the time and defense needed in order to build up his empire.

Ya since the patch I have had the same issue with him, last night playing on king he had built 20+ cities and had double the score of any other AI with me in second. Not sure what he was doing, but it was working.

If he starts in the middle of a huge forest, he will have super crazy production cities and can't be touched because of the mohawks, which do not need iron. I loved to play as Hia before the patch, now it is just too damn easy

Hiawatha usually seems like a well below average AI in my games. I almost always see Greece, Siam, or occasionally France as the runaway AI.

I always find him to be a beast. Post-patch, he's worse.

He likes expansion and early wars. So his neighbours get beat on while he spams settlers in the other direction.

Given he no longer needs iron for mohawks, he spams them early and can save all of the iron for catapults. very annoying as a neighbour unless you build a decent army right away.

yeah if you check out the military strength chart early in the game he's usually sky high above everyone else because of his new mohawk spam.

Catherine is pretty competitive in my games, too, especially post-patch. Haven't seen Hiawatha up there though in my games yet, but too soon to tell.

There was a game where Babylon had a cannon and musketmen/Longswords on every tile in his base, which was about a third of a decent sized continent. Let's just say I was going for conquest and it didn't end well.

But Alexander is unbeatable in my games. Pretty much has a Diplo victory by 1650. I mean 600 GPT at one point??? Really??? I swear I am playing on Immortal and Egypt appears to be dominating after conquering Polynesia. He forces me to give up all my resources to sign a peace treaty. Less than 10 turns later, Egypt conquered, wiped off the face of the Earth by Greece. I knew Hoplites and Companions were decent but c'mon....

For me it's usually Persia, Russia, Rome, or France that get crazy powerful.

Ottomans, England, and Greece are the "wacko" civs that I can never predict...they just do off the wall things.

Like always in these kind of threads about one civ being super best, you find that your own experience might be far away from everyones experince. But sure Hiawatha has been one of the civs that has been strong in many of my games. But in just as many games someone else is dominating, like persia, siam, germany, greece, russia etc etc...

Hiawatha post patch has been a steamroller, together with Russia. Even when he only has three cities, he somehow able to churn out wonders after wonders.
