Chieftain
at the end of civ III vanilla there is a warrior with a hammer and he smashes it down to show you what history will remember you as. how do you get to the top rank?
thanks the highest i have gotten is THE PATHETICand good job on your score
there you go sweetchuck and spoonwood
Thanks.
Keep in mind, three things really helped that score:
1) Massive territory
2) higher difficulty
3) Long game
More territory explains itself. Obviously a larger map = more available territory = higher score possibility. A small or tiny map just can't compete. Higher difficulty -- you get a score bonus for the harder levels. I think the highest I ever scored on warlord was around 4000 with a retirement at 2050AD -- and I owned nearly the whole world! This game only went to 1824 in this game and I wasn't even 50% land ownership, so you can see the effect of playing monarchy vs. warlord or chieftan. And if I had achieved a culture victory a lot earlier -- say, around 1000AD as it has been suggested is possible -- my score would've been a lot lower as well since your final score is an average of your instantaneous turn total score across all of your turns. Does that make any sense?
