I have played civ 3 a very large amount since it came out, but some things that happen in it are damn annoying! Quite often it happens that tanks lose to spearmen etc, but in my last game I had just recieved my 1st military great leader - I used him to make an army of 3 modern armours. The 1st unit i then come into contact with is a 3HP (regular) warrior and I LOSE! now that just plain sucks, something should be done about gross imbalances like this.

Assuming an army of veterans and that warrior being unfortified on grassland, the chances of the warrior winning unharmed are approximately 501911982600000000:1 against. Even if it were fortified in a hill metropolis across a river it's still 3540706161000:1 against. You're more likely to be killed by a falling UFO.

lol it actually happened, it was in a huge city so prob had defensive bonus etc, i have a save of the game, if there is a way to show you that turn tell me how to and i'll get it, i've played civ 3 since the day it came out, this has only happened once - i'm not saying it happened regularly

Let's see... it's defense, if that warrior is fortified x1.25, in a metro x2.25, on a hill x2.75, across a river x3, civil defense x3.50, radar tower x3.75. so that's 1x3.75=3.75! Still pretty low defense for a modern armour army! I would love to see that save game, try checking in your autosave folder.

Just post a reply and in the bottom right corner click on "Upload File" and upload it to the CivFanatics server. You might want to zip it first too so it wont be as big.

my modern armours were regulars i didn't use the one that created the leader cause my armies always seem to die much too fast. how do i find the game to upload and what does 'zip the file' mean?

The saves are in your Conquests directory under Saves folder. Zip the file means use whatever program (example WinRAR, WinZip) to compress and archive the file and then upload it here.

I notice this horible imbalance when playing a hard difficult level (Sid) my tanks are always dieing to there musket men or my modern amours are being waisted by there rifeman

The "cheers!" one is a normal CFC one - click "Get More" under the smilies to the left in the Post Reply/New Thread window.

Hmm that on sid level tanks vs musket men or riflemen? hard to believe. try next time with something better

I lost Modern armours to riflemen on Monarch when attacking a metropolis - it's uncommon to loose outright but easy to take lots of damage.

Heh, I actually lost a 3/4 tank to a vet spearman last night. I just chuckled and sent in the next tank... he won without a scratch.

This was in monarch, btw. In fairness though, this is the first time I've seen a spear take out a tank since the old civ days.
