HOF Questions & Answers

That DLC folder should be moved somewhere outside the civ5 path when you play for HOF submission. If you move the rest than more people would be able to open your saves. but it isn't required.

Oh okay. That is mentioned... absolutely nowhere in the rules and nowhere in the stickied threads either. I really think you need to put and make this very clearly under the rules. In fact, I can't believe all the people who take part in these competition games actually did this (or don't own that DLC) - how could they if it isn't mentioned anywhere?

Maybe just adding in these bold lines would be good:
Downloadable Content (DLC):
DLC Civilizations cannot be played or used as opponents unless noted here. Other DLC content is not allowed unless specified.
Note: If you own the "Wonders of the Ancient World" DLC you must manually remove (renaming is not enough) the "C:\Steam\steamapps\common\sid meier's civilization v\assets\DLC\DLC_06" folder (beware that this step has to be repeated after every patch). You can remove other DLCs in the same way; however you don't have to, if you always only pick vanilla civs as enemies instead of randomizing them.
Allowed: Mongolia (Genghis Khan) DLC

I also might add that this is quite awful, as it severely dampens my expectations of pleasure from the HoF/Gauntlet games. Do many people actually not own this DLC? I thought the majority probably had it.

One of my more consistent typos. The irony is that when I write SQL I constantly type form instead of from. ;)
Haha... luckily 'from' is only needed/found soo rarely within sql stuff, right? :goodjob:

A final note to Firaxis (like they'd ever see this - and if they did - not ignore this): Animations in MP? Seriously? Add an option to disable/chose the active DLCs right now! Your priorities are seriously messed up! Oh and thanks for wasting my hdd space, as I just noticed all the different languagen opening_movies, Readme's and the Soundtrack are redownloaded with every patch as well (which add up to nearly a GB wasted). That's AWFUL!

I will include your addition the next time I am making changes.

We are damned if we do and damned if we don't. If we had allowed all the DLC then folks that don't have it would be complaining.

That is wishful thinking. I would guess that very few people opted to buy the $100 version over the $50 version of Civ V. I believe that most players would play at a big disadvantage if all DLC were to be allowed and the DLC were difficult to purchase.

I haven't bought any DLC since I haven't even come close to playing out the contents of the regular game. I would buy the DLC though if I needed it to play the Games of the Month or the HoF gauntlets.
Also I will for sure buy the Carthage or Hannibal DLC if and when it ever comes out for Civ5! :)

I haven't seen anyone ask yet so I'll ask. Whats going on with the G&K update with regards to the HoF? Are you guys going to create a new leaderboard like in the Civ IV HoF?

I stopped submitting games and playing Civ V in general after I heard of the expansion. I feel like theres hardly a point. (Although all I have to do is beat Deity to finish my Veni Vedi Vici)

I hope we don't have to start from 0 again.

Well the way that the Civ IV is set up I think, just from observing, is that they keep all the scores from vanilla and just use 2 separate leaderboards for each. Correct me if I'm wrong anyone.

Remember we don't get any advance knowledge or any support from Firaxis with decoding the save files. So there is bound to be a delay between release and us being able to process/accept save files. Please be patient with us during the interum.

Take your time, it is better that you do it right then that you do it fast and buggy :)

I have been gone for a while, and just had to do a complete re-install. I cleaned out DLC_02, DLC_03, DLC_04, and DLC_Deluxe from my C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\sid meier's civilization v\assets\DLC folder. The remaining subfolders are:

DLC_01
DLC_sp_maps, and
Shared.

I am not clear on whether the DLC_sp_maps or Shared folders will cause games to get rejected. Do these need to be removed as well?

Thanks

You only need to remove the DLC_02-06 folders and the Babylon.Civ5Pkg from within the DLC_Deluxe folder. That folder itself and it's other contents can stay as well as the DLC_SP_Maps and Shared folder.

Actually you must only remove the DLC_06 folder (Wonders of the Ancient World). All others can stay, if you make sure your enemies are all allowed by the rules (so you have to manually pick vanilla civs as enemies and can't have them randomized).

If I want to automatically enable quick combat, which of these config.ini settings is the best one to change?

; Set to 1 to disable Combat system
Combat = 0

; Force quick combat animations
QuickCombat = 0

and

Will changing either of these cause HOF submissions to be rejected?

You probably don't want to change the first one. The second one doesn't sound right but you could try it and see. That one wouldn't hurt anything HOF-wise.

Save the game at this point, the turn on which you have won. Don't press next turn and then save.

If I have a social policy available that turn, can I adopt it before saving? Also, can I spend up any cash on buildings/CS alliances? Lastly, can I ....just....launch....that...one ...last...nuke, then save?

You can do that but that won't change your score. Only buying land can bring up your score a little (not coast/ocean tiles)

Yep, as Peets said you can take any action on that turn as long as the save we receive is from the winning turn.

I know it's a little early but I might as well implement the idea now

Is it planned that all previously released DLC might be add to the G&K Hall of Fame?
