How many of you actively participate in an organized religion? I'm curious because I'm 27 (raised Catholic) & I no longer participate. I also know no one my age who does either. For those who reply, please specify religion & age for demographic's sake.

I do.
My religion is Heathenry.
My age is 48.

"Participation" is rather ambiguous, but however you define it I guess it will probably apply to me. For example, one common definition would be participating in rituals, and since I not only participate in but officiate at Heathen rituals, from the very small (1 - 6 people) and private through to the large (more than 100 people) and public, I guess it's a yes!

By participant, I mean one who attends services or makes a routine of any kind around religious beliefs. Weather it be once a week, or once a month, as long as it's not just for special occasions & is done on a regular basis.

Btw Stormerne, what is Heathenry? I've never heard that title before, in reference to a religion.

I was raised Catholic. I was very active in my Church. I even seriously considered joining a religious order. Over the years, my eyes have been opened, and I've lapsed into an agnosticism of sorts. Though I respect a person's right to their own faith, it would take a lot to get me to step into a church again.

OK well I guess I fit into that meaning!
Heathenry, by the way, is the pre-Christian pagan religion of Germanic speaking peoples of Northern Europe. Loosely speaking this means it was the dominant religion in all the countries around the North Sea 1000 to 2000 years ago (year varying according to exactly where). It is a polytheistic religion and most countries that speak a Germanic language even now name most of their weekdays after some of Heathenry's best known deities: Tuw/Tyr, Woden/Odin, Thunor/Thor, Frigga. And in one country, Iceland, it has now regained its ancient status of being one of the official national religions, alongside Christianity, and where it is known as Asatru.

Actually being atheist is a religion itself because profess your belief in nothing. But of course you don't actively do anything besides make sure to let people no that you don't believe in anything when the subject comes up.

Being agnostic on the other hand would mean you just don't care. This may be more what you meant. Either way, I don't care <IMG SRC="http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/wink.gif" border=0>

I activly participate in Temple, I go there almost every Sunday, and go to services almost every Friday.
However this is not my wish, and when I leave home I will not attend services.

Zeus: by Temple you mean Jewish right? (It may surprise you, but many people might not know it just from that. I didn't until I began to meet, know, and befriend Jewish people in the last 5-10 years.)

To answer the question, I'm 30, raised Protestant Christian, but don't go to church anymore and have my own beliefs now (see To Kiss or Not thread). BUT, while I don't subscribe to an organized religion now, I do meditate and talk to my God fairly regularly.

That may fit your "practice" definition, but I don't think I'd call it a religion (under usual definitions).
