HOOO what a game

It's a very nice game indeed, it has some problems, but they certainly did a good job.

AOE2 is significantly better for serious competitive multiplayer. I'm indifferent to considerations of graphics and singleplayer.

ugh, never liked AOE AT ALL.

I do like RON and also quite enjoy ROL.

Top RTS games that I've played.

1. StarCraft
2. Rise of Nations
3. Age of Mythology
4. Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings
5. Medieval II: Total War

Sadly, StarCraft took away my computer's sound and I'm not able to play Rise of Nations on my crude new computer. Now I'm stuck playing junk games like Command and Conquer: Generals.

i think total war is better

RoN is good, but I prefer the Total War series. Shogun was a masterpeice and the two Medievals are hella close. Then you've got AoE II. I can't even begin to tell you how many hours of my life were wasted on that game. I've lost months of my life I can't get back.

1. StarCraft
2. Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings
3. Rise of Nations
4. Age of Empires
5. The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-Earth

And for silliness, here's Gamespy's Top 10 RTSs list from 2003.

 They have some horrible taste. MTW and EE would be much higher up for me, and WC3 wouldn't be on the list.

Hey guys, want to level up a hero for a few minutes then go level a city with him?

How fun!

are you talking about MTW 1 or 2
1 was pretty bad

Well, Medieval II was released in 2006...

Yeah, StarCraft should be number one as it usually is. As for now, here's where I think we should all stand.

1. StarCraft
2. Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness
3. Dune II: The Building of a Dynasty
4. Rome: Total War
5. Command and Conquer: Red Alert
6. Total Annihilation
7. Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings
8. Homeworld
9. Freedom Force
10. Herzog Zwei

Okay, that's IGN-style (but not taken directly from that site).

What do you think should be the top ten?

Actually that goes against the regular opinion of most sites. Not saying YOU have to follow them, but I'm saying that you can't just say that the list has bad taste like that.

I love 1, one of my favorite games of all time.

Eh, I don't mean it as a fact. I mean in my opinion they have crappy taste in games, just like Churchill 25 will probably think the same of me for liking M:TW.

Also, I'm sure if you google around you could turn up a fair few articles about gaming companies paying off sites like Gamespot and IGN. You're better off checking user reviews on Gamefaqs or some other site if you want to know what's really up with any game in particular.
