How about trading/exchanging of units with the AI?

I want to deliver them weapons! I want to help my ally when he/she is in war with an opponent! Help! If i give him/her a city full of units, he/she only gets one of them -> proved through espionage... So is there a possibiliy for unit gifts to the ai?
Solution maybe: 10 units max last for 20 turns, so the affects are not to big....:goodjob:

As yet there is no way to tranfer units to an opponent. However you can give them technology and money which are just as helpful if not better. As to the missing units they are relocated to your other cities (I think to your capital but I am not sure).

Ok, but i think there should be some kind of "transfer-mode" for weapon-systems like this worker-tradeoff. Could be very interesting especially when the AI also knows to handle it...

biggest value of trading units will prolly be in Multiplayer (when they release it) I would love to sit back and let two of my rivals slug it out while i make a tidy lil profit from selling units ;)
i really hope they include this in the next patch, even in single player this would be a viable option, make the comps do your dirty work.

If this is going to become a new feature, and I hope it is, then I must stress that when I, for example, trade or give a unit to the A.I., they do not get to break it apart and figure out how it ticks, thus gaining the advance, like they did in Civ 2.

And if only there was a way to have your troops return home after the war...

I think they should release expansion pack for Civ3 for all those options recommended. There are too much of them to include in patchs.

This is a good Idea!

The rival CIV hire some of your units...

And any that get killed have to paid for in goods or cash from the
rivals coffers! (over the space of 20 turns)

A bit like the USA's lend-lease program of the 40's!

I noticed though that you can transfer workers at some points of the game. Now sure when or why, possibly ones that are in their territory or at the border?

I have on several occasions spent 10,000+ gold trying to keep one of my allies alive for a diplomatic victory. Units would be much more effective, because, from what I saw, this huge amount of money I gave to the Greeks over 20 or so turns, had little or no effect on the Roman assault. God knows what they spent it on, but they did not spend it effectively. Imagine what you could do with 10,000 gold spent on military units only. The AI probably spent it on granaries and courthouses. Units would have had a direct impact on the Roman offensive, probably would have halted it.

Workers within capitals can be exchanged during diplomacy, why not military units?

Maybe the reason the Romans were after the Greeks was because the Greeks didn't pay their bills.
