Its the great CCCP empire that beat Hitler...
And you make me laugh. First, keep in mind that Americans, British, and Canadians made the beachhead in question. Second, don't forget that the invasion of Normandy was just one part of the invasion of Europe. Sicily was already captured as was Italy south of and including Rome. France was also invaded in the south. Third, Normandy is more than 300 km from Berlin, and more than 300 km from the Elbe.
As far as the "Great CCCP Empire" goes, perhaps you could help me, I purchased an atlas last month and have had some difficulty locating this nation.
It was a joint effort of all parties and would not have been possible without any one of the Big Three. Go read the Communist Manifesto again and tell yourself that it is a historical certainty that communism will rule the world.
>>My understanding is that Germany ran out of PILOTS before they ran out of planes. So although Germany couldn't just let Allied B-17's and Lancasters bomb their factories unabated, in the end it was the air-to-air attrition that achieved air superiority for the Allies--not the bombing. <<
You are right Tetly that they ran out of trained pilots first, but the bombing campaign did have a big impact on that since it was the escorting P-51's that really took a toll on the Luftwaffe.
>>I think that western assistance to Russia accounted for something like 20% of the USSR's wartime GDP.<<
Hard to imagine Russia winning without that 20%. Just like it is hard to imagine The US and Britain winning without Russia.
