Bernie+AOC Rallies?

I had to look up Yarvin, as I had never heard of him.

In a way I am a constitutional monarchist too, but very much not in the same way.
my impression is that you're faaar from yarvin. he's a complete nutjob. anti liberalism but in the historical sense that he doesn't like that people vote.
I wondered if you think the mass media was more influential in 2024 than in 2016.
good question. i think we're more entrenched outside traditional media now. it has only cemented further in online conglomerates.
Interestingly Joe Biden was successful in 2020 when Covid impacted on
mass media and day to day contacts, but that is a subject all in itself.
that makes sense! i wouldn't personally brush that up to the media though, but rather that there was an epidemic (regardless of trump's handling of it); "things are bad, and i'm tired of the chaos, i just want a sense of normalcy, i'm voting for the other guy".

This is partly true, but there's some real issues; noone reads liberal newspapers, everyone listens to joe rogan, everyone watches youtube thinkpieces dominated by the right. was true back then, too - i remember youtube back around 2015. these spaces are thoroughly dominated by the right, and back then, same thing. then it was more culture war than economics, meaning that someone showing up being an outright bastard in extension of those spaces had a good chance. it's part of what this machinery was set up to do.
I recall pre-2015 and pre-Gamergate era, there wasn't that much right-wing thinkpieces being strone about, aside from a few SJW cringe compilations and poking fun at lefty Tumblr users (Though the creator presented themselves as the enlightened centrist types) and conservatives were still seen as wet-blanket killjoys who want to take away our video games (See Jack Thompson). While this is anedotal, I've only seen an uptick in them sometime after Ghostbusters 2016, The Last Jedi, and Sarkessian's Tropes v. Women in Video Games series came into the scene. Prior to any of this, I've only interacted with Let's Play content creators like Markiplier, History and Science creators.

They were out there previously, but it was a different flavour. They were the parts of the transhumanist + atheist/rationalist area that just couldn't let go of "scientific" racism and tended to be blog posters, not video makers. The online wings of traditional hate groups/militias squatting in private sites and innocuously named chat channels. with their crossover into the first rumblings of the Tea Party. These weren't mass movements because they kind of wanted to filter in the like minded.

I would also argue more broadly that the centralization of the internet around a handful of social media giants made this phenomena more easily able to spread.

I think Bernie would've handily defeated Trump in any election. I am firmly convinced he lost because Dem primary voters thought wrongly that he could not win a general. Conventional wisdom failed them and they never threw it out. Ruin. If he had actually made it, the position of nominee would have amplified the volume of his superior message to the low-info, and he would've won without much trouble.

AOC can win and I'm beginning to think she might. She will have challenges, though. It's well known that I believe modern leftism to be a politically unsound thing, a bad strategy. Her association, even though she's now quietly returning to the class warrior position, is still gonna be an issue. She could try to deliver genuine leftism - the old school, **** the rich kind - but it remains to be seen if the audience can forget the aftertaste of so many overly sensitive blabberings regarding identity issue X, Y and Z long enough to swallow it.

I think they can, though. I can, at least.

Agree.

He would have neutralized Trump on bad trade deals and forever wars.

The DNC was the problem. They rigged it because they serve the same corporate masters as the RNC.
