How could Augustus have done better?

I just destroyed five out of 7 civs single handedly by 1975 and all I got was a Shaka Zulu rating. I just got Abe Lincoln the other day,and I'm sure I didn't come close to dominating like I just did. How could Augustus have done better? I don't think I've evef destroyed five out of seven before. I wanted that Augustus rating!

Do it all 1000 years earlier. 1975 is very late in this game. Although base score can go up quite a bit the later the game simply do to # of cities and population, the final score calculator drops dramatically after certain dates. Your rating is based primarily on final score. In 1975 it is never going to be very good.

Most likely with the difficulty you are playing on you should be doing it by around 100 AD.

Augustus ruled for 41 years; you ruled for 5975 years. I think I see how.

For the record, if you aren't getting Caesar ratings, you are doing something wrong. Heck, you should be able to get a Caesar rating for beating Prince difficulty with a culture win as long as you do it before 1900.

Yes, this is exactly the sort of game I'm playing right now, and I have come to expect such a rating, though the earliest win I've achieved so far is late 19th century, trying to move it forwards tho. I'm guessing that this is not just due to the 3-city culture level, but also being within the top three on most of the other demographics too (always number 1 on GNP and Manufactured Goods).

Difficulty level needs to be higher... you get more points that way.
