I know that we can rename religions, but I heard that religion in the expansion is suppose to be customizable, so how customizable do you think it is going to be?

It would be really neat being able to choose the bonuses that your religion grants you yourself to create a new religion according to your own design.

I can already imagine my perfect North Korea style police state with each and every person worshipping me as their god as demanded by the state's official political religion:bowdown: :D

Plus it would make the act of spreading my religion around hilarious. Why would people from other nations want to adopt my religion if it is about them being enslaved and me becoming the emperor of the world?

Thoughts?

Religions start as a blank slate. When you found one, you can choose a bonus for it. If you accumulate more faith points, you can choose more bonuses. So, yes, they are very customizable, similar to social policies.

I imagine that the tenets of the religion will vary greatly. Also, I would imagine that the Founding beliefs bonuses are not nearly as strong as later belief bonuses, but I do not know as to the extent of what choice in the religion you can make. For your example, it may simply be a trade-off of a bonus to faith, but a reduction in the spread of your religion stunting its growth to other cultures. It may increase production, but decrease happiness, or some such trade-off depending on the choices you can make. I think a series of +/- decisions makes for a more interesting system than please pick a bonus you would like now.

I imagine there could be some interesting possibilities for mods with customisable beliefs beyond the ones that come standard. Combined with social policies, it could make for some awesome creations.
