 OK it's funny till someone gets an eye knocked out. Now go pound on the Romans, mkay?

my husband had played civ1 before we met, a LOT, and played it some after we were together. i watched it a bit but was never interested.

then civ2 came out, and he got 'one more turn' disease sooooo bad. the oscars were on one night shortly after it came out, and i prefer to watch them with someone else, to make catty comments, etc. he'd said he'd watch with me, but he never did end up pulling away from the game, even with nags! so i went in and took the manual to read during commercials etc. (yes this paragraph is pretty much proof i'm a girl huh?)

reading the manual i kept telling him 'oh this game looks WAY too hard for me!' and i asked him a few questions after oscar night while watching him play a bit. ended up wanting to give it a try, and then i got addicted too. i mean truly one-more-turn stuff, somedays i'd even take the short drive from work home to play during lunch!!!

i tried civ3, and we got all the expansions, but i think i didn't adore it as much as civ2 (hard to remember). tried CTP and was YUCK even after giving it three days to let it grow on me. civ4 of course we preordered the special edition, whatever it was. i like that one about as much as civ2, altho i do miss the fast loading, and that huts could change results on the same turn. yes, i confess, on single player i'm the 'reload til i get something good' type.

oh and we got SMAC and SMAX and enjoyed the heck out of them too!

so bottom line, it's 100% hubby's fault! and if i'd never been introduced to sid meiers' games, my house would be a LOT cleaner!
