How did you first find out about civ?

I got Civ3 Game of the Year Edition last year for my birthday, installed it, and got obcessed. While surfing the web for info on the game, I found CFC. I found out about C3C here, and then bought it.

And before this I thought AOM was a good game...

A friend of mine at school would tell me of his daily exploits on civ. He would talk about how he tricked his people into staying in monarchy in the modern times and how he would send tanks against spearmen(he played on monarch:)) Anyways i picked up the game in short order.

i found out about civ when my dad bought it i don't know, maybe in 1999 and i thought it was stupid because of the giant warrior on the cover. then after watching him play it for about a month, i kind of got addicted to it. in about 2002 we got PTW and i started to play it almost everyday. then in dec. of 2003, i found CFC while looking for stuff on PTW and i learned about conquests. my dad won't let me get it untill my birthday because i have been playing PTW too much, and stuff.

Playing Civ1 at a sleepover at my best friend's house about a dozen years ago. The friendship is long gone but the civ addiction remains.

I got civ 1 with my cd-rom drive that my dad got me in '94 and it came on a cd with "Mantis" some futuristic space flying game where you fight against invading cockaroach space race. It was wierd and never worked on my computer so i played civ 1 instead and became hooked to the series.

I found it because I was searching for demos on Kazaa. I downloaded the game, played for thrity minutes, and then it stopped. That angered me very badly, so I went ahead and downloaded the pirated version. I loved the game, I got addicted to it. So, I decided it would be good to support Firaxis, and buy the game, like a good little boy should:). Then, later, I bought Civilization III Conquests, which came with PTW, which makes for even more fun.

BTW, do not download the pirated version of ANY game. The ARE free, but they also come with a free trojan most of the time.
