How did you get your copy?

. He probably convinced her to buy it so he didn't have to. Then she sold it real cheap.

It was from my bf and I warned him not to buy it for me because I would spend all my free time playing CIV and not fussin' over him. Of course he bought it and the usual squabbles followed. Now that I'm back playing it, I'm a bit sneakier about the amount of time I play CIV. He's a musican and I'm designing a new cover for his CD so i'm pretty quick with the ALT + SHIFT key!

I got introduced to civ2 by a friend a long long time ago and it used to be one of my first games, the game that introduced me to computer gaming in general.

When the development of civ3 was announced, I already planned on buying it, regardless of how it will turn out.

I just had to wait for the Mac version. I ordered it as soon as I read it was released, the place where I ordered it didn't even had it yet, or knew the game existed (for the mac) so I was better informed than the salesman. (It is always hard to figure out if that is a good thing or a bad thing)

Well, I started playing Civ 1 in the mid-90s. A bf I was dating at the time had it on his PC. I wanted to break up with him but didn't for months after because I didn't have my own PC, so I would go there, ignore him and play Civ! Civ 2 I have bought too many times. My nephew borrowed my copy and returned it all scratched, so I bought another one off Ebay. Now I'm living in a different country and bought TOT off a guy for a Euro. Now I'm giving my bf puppy dog eyes so he'll buy me 4!

Someone had a copy of Vanilla Civ III that they never got around to using, and gave it to me. I got addicted pretty quickly.

If it weren't for my brother, I wouldn't know anything about civ 3 . And I would probably still be playing boring games.

I bought Civ3 when it came out, from Virgin Megastore in Cork city (oddly enough I wasn't aware of Civ3, and I had been going to "borrow" Civ2 from a friend the same weekend because my Fantastic Worlds CD wouldn't install under WinME).
I bought PTW at the same place, a few weeks after it was released (for some reason it didn't appear on the shelves straight away).
I pre-ordered C3C from Amazon.co.uk.

My finding civ is a bit funnier. I was looking for a small gift to get my little brother. Saw civ 2 for 7 quid and got it. Had no idea what civ was. My brother didn't like the game so I began playing it.

My life hasn't been the same since ohh its great now with my civ complete for only 20 quid.

My son got me the Game of the Year version (vanilla and PTW) for Christmas '03. My machine was a PII 300 MHz. I could play for about an hour and the system would crash (Blue Screen of Death).

Got a PII 500 MHz machine (a freebie) and had it for a several months until I had the 'Eureka!' moment and realized it could play Civ 3. This was in the spring of '05. Signed up here in May '05.

I got Complete on eBay for SGOTM 10 in '06.

My son got Civ 4 for himself at Best Buy last Thanksgiving for $20.

I got Warlords for him for Christmas from Amazon (also $20).

You got it for $1.99?. That must have not been authentic if it's that cheap.

yeah, you can get it on eBay for that cheap, and i would recomend it if you have an account, but be very careful, since some people scam you, and say they sellin it for .50 cents, and you get just the stupid box. i heard about the lawsuit that came when someone sold x Box on eBay (just the box it came it) and put a picture of it. someone thought it was a REAL x-box gaming system, and bought it for like $50-150 (can't remember, this was a while ago, before the 360) and got so freakin mad, they sued. they won, and got their money back, and now you have to put a very specific title like x-box Box...

As for me, im with the first guy, i got my vanilla for $10 in wal-mart on the shelf, along with SWGBCC for $10 all with the $20 gift card i got for getting straight "a"s in school (the school gave them out too, i was soo happy ) then, after, thinking that the complete in the store (which was $20 at the time) was only just like a couple more civs, which didn't really interest me as much as getting 2 games. After a while, i found this site and realized just how much i was missing. I got tired of playing the same old stuff. I decided it was time to get an upgrade, but i went back to wal-mart and it was no longer it stock (right word use, right?:cry:) I frantically looked, and couldnt find it, so i asked my friend. he found it and bought it, which i reembursed (spelling?) him fully for, taxes and all, and i got it :)

I bought the Game of the Year edition(just vanilla) about four-five years back, then got Conquests about 3 years ago. I was introduced to civ2 about 10 years ago and have owned SMAC, SMACX, Call to Power, Conflicts in Civilization before this. Am now getting Civ4, but I doubt I'll stop playing Conquests anytime soon. I also have owned SimCity3000 and SimCity 4, so I like so-called god-games... Hmm, wonder about my personality.
