I would dearly love to buy off the Byzantines before slapping the Romans around the continent (plus she's cute), but it looks like I have a trade embargo against them with the Spaniards.

Can I cancel it? If so, how?

Welcome to CFC!

Go to the diplomancy menu and make a deal. While making the deal, hit the active deals at the bottom of the menu. It will make the active deals come up. Then just click on the deals you don't like and have expired. (they have no number next to them) Then you re-negotiate with them, or just cancel the trade.

Another solution is to set of a couple :nuke: ICBMs :nuke: then no one will maintain deals with you,

No but really The guy above me has got the right idea.

I don't think you can cancel an active trade embargo (i.e. one within its first 20 turns) without declaring war on the civ you have it with. Same as you can't cancel an ROP or an MPP. Is that correct?

Thanks, I was looking around the embargee screen rather than the embarger.
Happy to say Rome has now fallen under wave after wave of infantry - first time I've seen the AI pulling troops *out* of an attacked city ...

Thanks a lot!
