It's so easy to copy TO an iPod why am I not allowed to copy from one?

Seems like it should be pretty basic.

Thanks guys.

Because Apple are be-atches sometimes. It just doesn't work.

Edit: try this.

Hook the iPod up to your computer, open it up as a hard drive in My Computer, set My Computer to show hidden directories, the music will all be there in various directories that will now be visible. The down side is that all the songs are not organised by group or any other logical way, but you don't need any kind of fancy software to copy them off.

here is the official instructions for transferring music files from computer-to-computer via iPod

I was sure he was talking to me.

Anyway, Is the Ipod worth buying?
I am thinking about buying some at salehoo at good price, trying to sell them on ebay and keeping 4, one for me and 3 for christmas presents for my bros.

If you copy the unorganized stuff off an iPod to a separate folder on your harddrive like sysyphus said, and then import it into iTunes, it will copy all the files to the iTunes music folder and sort them after artist, album and actual songtitle, solving the unorganised problem:)
