I just got a new computer with outstanding specs (especially for its price of only $699), and when I installed BTS it ran swell, and so did RFC. Turns went by quickly, and what not, but now RFC goes really slow, at least compared to what it used to be. Now it can take up to a minute for turns to pass, when it used to only take a few seconds. I don't know what could be wrong, and I know it can't be my computer. Its only two weeks old!

PC SPECS:
2.2 GHz Quad-Core Processor
6GB SDRAM
Nvidia GeForce 9100 w/256MB dedicated
Windows Vista Home Premium

PLEASE HELP!! I LOVE RFC BUT I CAN'T STAND THE WAITING!!

Or II if you want.

CivII doesn't have RFC. And Rhye's and Fall for Civ3 is a different mod (and more unbalanced then the Civ4 RFC).

I think this is the subforum you're looking for. A mod could move this thread there for you.

Most games like Civ will slow down as you advance. The computer's got a lot more to do when it's got to juggle many turns of history than it does when you start a new game.

Red Door, I've tried that, and it still doesnt solve the problem long term.
With proper practice you can increase your stamina and recharge the juice needed to flog your bishop every couple minutes, or at least allot faster than it takes CivIV to load.

haha funny. but can we get off the talk of bishops and dolphins? After all, I was kidding. Back to solving my problem!! PLEASE!!

Well if you're saying that the turn length has gotten longer as the the game progresses, that's perfectly normal because the game has to calculate the properties of every city, citizen, and trade route every turn. So its only natural that late game turn lengths are longer.

no, the turn lengths have gotten longer as the time i've had the game grows longer. sure enough, if i unistalled then reinstalled BTS, the mod would run smooth again, but only for a few days. then it would slow down again. and i dont want to have to keep reinstalling and uninstalling!! so yeah...if you understand any of that.

This is very strange. Turns in late-game RFC do take quite a bit longer than vanilla, but nothing you can't get used to.

Get the latest version of RFC for a start. If you're playing the one that comes with BtS then you might be experiencing some old bug. Make sure you fully update BtS first.

Yeah, you should definitely upgrade. Even if that doesn't solve the problem, it does give you new features, fixes for other bugs, etc. RFC always takes a bit of time between each turn late game, but if it is early game, then you have some bug.

play the game in windowed mode and browse the forums and the strategy guide stuff

Definitely not. While the game plays OK in my computer, alt-tabbing it is torture.

In windowed mode you don't need to alt-tab. I play this way and it makes my life really easy :)
I can check the atlas with no trouble, or stability maps and stuff.
