How do I move a Relic?

In Civ III Conquests there is the scenario where you have to move a relic - in my case the Holy Grail - to Jerusalem to get 10000 victory points. Well, how can I move it? It says it has a movement of 1 but it won't move anywhere. It starts off in a city in england and when I click on it - it shows the circle with arrows floating around it but if I click on anything else it does not highlight that square like a normal piece does to move. I tried all the options that I can think of. Can't put it into a ship. Can't move as a stack. The help just says it has a movement of 1. The icons on the game screen only show 4 options - fortify, recon, wait and another one. But none for movement. How do I get it to Jerusalem? Do I have to conquer Jerusalem first?

Welcome to the boards.

You need to pick it up with another ground unit. There should be a Seize Relic button when you choose a military ground unit. It will look like the one that I have highlighted in this screenshot:

If you have a fast unit, use it as well as the fastest ship you have.

In order to gain the points, you will need to either capture Jerusalem or the tile the city was on if someone razed the city. Then, move the unit onto that tile.

Also, you can "steal" a relic from another country by killing the unit that they are carrying it with. That unit's name will show up in red when you right click on it, and I think it might also have exclaimation points after its rank.

The AI seems to have no idea what to do with their relics, and definitely don't do any type of "crusade" unless you recruit them with military aliances. They don't seem to want to do that on their own, though.

But you can steal a relic from a nation, and no matter what one you are the civ that starts with Jerusalem, you can return it there for 10,000 points.

One of the flaws of an otherwise great scenario. Perhaps there should be a locked "war" alliance between the "Christian" nations and the Abbysids (I know I spelled that wrong).

sorry to threadjack a bit, but i went on a mass crusade to Jerusalem with 2 relics (1 stolen) protected by 3/4 armies (AI never seems to attack armies), once I got there, nothing happened until I broke my ROP agreement and took Jerusalem

in brief, do you really have to capture Jerusalem and move the relics in, in order to get the 10000 points?or was there something else I should do?

Yep, you have to actually take the city or, at least, the victory point location as kring notes -- which makes sense historically as the purpose of the crusades was indeed to take the city/holy land.
