I tried installing the "129f" patch on my Gold Edition but my main screen still says "127f". HELP!

CIv3 Gold is *already* patched!
The version of Civ3 in the Gold Edition is fully patched to v1.29f. The version of PTW is also patched to v1.27f. These are the final patches for both these games.
