there are a couple of units that i like that have to be upgraded even if i want to still build them, how do i fix this?

thanks in advance for any help.

Don't research the tech that obsoletes that unit or don't hook up the resource required to build that units replacement, if a resource is required. For example, you like your cheap Ansars, but want to build armies: Research Military Tradition, but don't hook Saltpeter up. Or you are Egypt, building cheap War Chariots: either don't research Chivalry or unhook your Iron and you can still build them.

i want to keep building guerrillas, i was looking more for a solution along the lines of changing the rules.

Really? Guerillas are not exactly what I expected that you wanted to keep building. Then you would go into Conquests editor and change it so it can't be upgraded. Beware, changes there can be tempting, you can do alot to units. To use those changes, you'll need to start new games from that .biq. This could better be explained by the folks in the Creation & Customization forum.

k, thanks. and what do you have against guirella's? they have a really cool graphic.

Same price as an Infantry, 4 less defense. They look cool but I'd rather fight them than build them. If an enemy is building them, it means they lack Rubber. They are neither fish nor fowl, with same attack and defense. If I had a choice between 10 Guerillas or 8 Cavalry and 2 Infantry, it would be a no-brainer for me. They should have had better offense or better defense for their cost(or treat all terrain as roaded).

Check in the editor under the units and what they do. Or just don't get Replacable Parts as a tech for guerrilas.

Well if it's all about "they look cool", i presume that the pictures of the units themselves can be changed too... Just replace the TOW inf grafics (which they upgrade into) and the Infantry grafics (which is chosen instead of them if rubber is available) and you'll be done.. ONly thing will be that you'll have 3 units with same grafics.. (i presume that wouldnt be a problem code-wise but might be confusing to the eye)

if you want to permanently change it go into your programfiles/firaxisgames/conquests folder (it might be in infograms interactive for normal conquests). Then right click on conquests.bic click open with. Then find your editor, click it. When it is open select, custom rules in the scenerio tab. Then in the rules tab click edit rules, go to the units tab. Change whatever you like and then save it.

Why are you not simply going into the editor, load the biq you want to play, go in the registry units and here to the unit Gurerilla and than you klick in the dropdownmenue for "Upgrade To": Instead of TOW Infantry to the first option of that dropdownmenue: "None". Than disable in the box "Special Actions" the option "Upgrade" by removing the hook (the last step is not necessairily needed, but than all is proper). Close the editor and save your new modded biq. Now you should have your guerilla units until the end of the game.

I don´t know if this is really what you meant, because it is one of the most easiest actions of modding C3C.

While you're at it, reduce the cost of the Guerillas to make them faster, thats what I did.
