how do I use the maps? (sorry for the noob question)

Hello ppl:

I have this problem. I downloaded a map pack (Rex´s one) and it has files with .civetc extension (not .py extension) and then I put them into "privatemaps" folder (into "ffh wild mana" folder)... is that right? Because they dont show in the game...
In fact I realized that only .py extension files show in the game as playable scenarios or maps.
