get the computer to acknowledge my envoy? For about 15 turns now I have been ripping the guts out of the egyptians. I have now captured all but 3 cities in their homeland (over 30 cities total). I have taken the capital 6 times! For 3 turns in a row I captured 5+ size 10+ cities per turn. In 2 more turns I will have completely wiped them out minus 5 or 6 island cities. He no longer has any iron or saltpeter (or luxery resources). Since now I am so far ahead of him tech wise (he can't even build anything but the eairlest units, as he has no resources), he hasn't even killed a unit of mine in several turns. Yet he still insists on ignoring me every turn! He seems to choose to let his entire empire crumble for his ego (or perhaps, to cause me some headaches because my population is sick of this war). Is their some way to force them to the table or is this some AI thing that is designed to irritate me? I just can't see how anyone with intelligence greater than play-doh would contiune this war.

HOW DO I GET HIM TO SIGN THE TREATY?!?!?

BTW - we are both republics

And to think - all I wanted in this war was a greate leader to rush build the forbidden palace... I got that on about turn 3, after capturing about 5 cities... all of which I was going to give back (if he surrenders, I'll still give him all of his cities back...except the one with the wines, but on my way out I'm going to destroy every land improvement and sell every city improvment just to punish him).

The very stubborn AI has been one of the ongoing problems lamented on this forum for weeks.

I don't think the Editor will help.

Firaxis needs to patch it.

One thing I noticed in my limited time playing, (so this may not be the case for you) is that they will refuse to speak with you if you attack any of their units that turn... for instance, I can speak to the greeks with my tanks approaching their city and say hey look, that hoplite just isn't going to cut the mustard, (yeah, playing the easy level) but once I take over that city, they wont speak to me until the next turn at the earliest... maybe wait a few turns without attacking and see if they will speak to you then.

Oh - if you hit them hard enough in one shot, they'll speak to you alright :) I often conduct 1-turn wars based on this. If I raze enough of the enemy's cities in one turn, I can make peace with him immediately (and thus avoid war weariness entirely)

the AI is very inconsistent in the way it treats you because this is supposed to represent the different specific civ abilities. militaristic civs are harder to get to the bargaining table then others. so just hit them so hard (take an island city to show them they aren`t invulnerable there) or wait a turn...

btw: seems to be an AI tactic to keep you at war is possible to use your war weariness against you ---> anarchy improves the others chance of cities flipping back.....

Not that this solves your problem (I have had the same, and agree that you stand a better chance of him talking if you don't attack).

But: 1.) What's wrong with wiping her out? 2.) Why were you going to give her the cities back?

I think its more of a problem when they're kicking you, and then you can't get peace!

I have found that when things become desperate for them, they will come to you during their turn, raher than the other way around.

Think about it this way: IRL, does the dominant country go to the losing one and demand peace when they're winning comprehensively? No: They go to screw them even more!
