How do you add resources to a map?

There is a map of Great Britian & Ireland in the user maps section but it does not have any resources. How do you either preplace resources or set it to put random resources on the map to play it? It is a C3C map.

You have to load the map in the editor. Then either use map/redistribute resources. Or manually place the resources.

If you do that, how many resources does the editor place?

It places all the resources based upon their appearance ratios.

completeley ignorant, but where is the map editor? Is it in one of the Civ3 programs? I was playing a game yesterday an do not remember seeing a map editor as an option to select anywhere.

You don't see the editor in the normal game start up screen.

To find it, go to Program Files, Firaxis Games, etc.

You should find the editor in your Civ 3 folder in your start/all programs. Or you can locate the executable manually depending on what version of Civ3 you have and your installation location this may vary. If you have Windows XP you can add the editor to the main start menu by "pinning it".
