How do you get someone to declare war?

Tip: Just Declare War.

As soon as you attack the one civ with an MPP then the other civ will declare war against you.

So why try to get the other guy to attack/declare war on you? As soon as you respond with force the other guy will declare war, so you might as well renegotiate peace or just declare war.

Maybe I missed the point, but if "ww" means "world war" I don't understand how a couple of turns without it (when your headed in that direction anyway) will help you. Culturally? You're already at war, so that really doesn't matter.

..I....don't....understand....
 :(

Here is an idea,
how about getting five of your people. Then surrounding one of thier people so there is only one way to go. Then lead them to your territory and when the opposition is in, surround them completely and say move your troups or declare war.(they may just pop out of your territory though)

The other night I built a city right next to an English colony in open territory, which just happened to be a uranium deposit . . . the only uranium source the English had as a matter of fact. Of course this action eliminated the colony as the resource was made part of my new city's radius. On the next turn they attacked me, the rat bastards, even though we had a long standing peace treaty and even a mutual protection pact. So I guess this works as well.;) ES

I had a situation like this last night. I wanted to attack the Zulus and take a piece of their territory with a resource I needed, but even though I was more powerful than the Zulus, the territory was a bit far away. I needed to get the Zulus involved in another war with its neighbors to keep them busy while I established some defenses and built up my troops in their territory. I got MPPs with the 3 big powers on their continent, but the Zulus also had an MPP with their big neighbor Greece. If Greece sided with he Zulus, it would be impossible to hold the land I wanted. If Greece sided with me, Shaka would be too busy fending them off to deal with me and I would have my land. First I tried moving a rifleman onto some Zulu territory that was close to mine, but far from the land I wanted. Shaka told me to leave or declare war, so I declared war. I didn't attack anything Zulu yet though in hopes that sitting back and letting Shaka make the first attack would cause Greece to side with me. Predictably some cavalry came out to attack the rifleman. Greece sided with the Zulu though, apparently because I moved troops onto Zulu territory first, even though I didn't attack anything. Reload and try again. Next time I didn't move the rifleman in, but instead sent my invasion flotilla of Frigates and troop laden Galleons into Shaka's territory. Once again he said leave or declare war, and I declared war. A Zula cavalry moved onto my territory preparing to attack. This time, however, Greece and the other MPP participants sided with me! From this experience it appears that ships moving into ocean territory are not treated the same as land troops moving onto land territory when deciding the outcome of conflicting MPP. Now I have my invasion force on the Zulu territory, and all the other civs except two have declared war on them! Looks like you can have your cake and eat it too! [dance]
