Hi all!

I'm new to civ 4 and this site has been lots of help but struggling to find some simple things....

How do you view your total resources? Like i can see my surplus in the foreign diplomacy screen but can't find a screen that shows my totals. Reason I ask is that I think for the corporations you need to have 1 of each resource for it to take effect? So having multiple of say fish but only one rice for sushi means the extra fish are wasted? Thx for help!

PS: Does hollywood give a single city the +50% culture bonus or all cites?

PPS: Does excess science points at the end of a turn where you complete a research go towards the next research or is it wasted?

:crazyeye:

- Checking in on your capital city is one way to see total resources. Other people know alternative ways? The icons are up on the right and they're tiny but you see what you've got there, spreading out into your empire. (cities with :traderoute: ) Sometimes it's a number in a parenthesis indicating multiple sources available. Note that some new little city at the far end of your empire might not be connected to the rest yet (by ocean, roads or airport) and might be sitting on some resource by itself until connected.
About corporations: It might be possible to start a corporation with only one of the 'consumable resources' actually. It doesn't matter if you have one of each or five of only one type, those five fish for example will go in as five resources. And the effect is straight off the total resources you have available. All are welcome! As long as it's the resource that the corporation likes and you don't trade them away. Otherwise they All count.

- Hollywood increases culture by 50% only in the city where it's built, and gives your civilization 'hit movies' which is like a resource that raises happiness. You can trade this to others etc.
(Building the Eiffel tower however, places a Broadcast tower in each city, increasing their :culture: output by 50%.)

- And yes, to my knowledge science bulbs spill over onto the next project.

PS. Civ4 BTS Reference sheet and Civilopedia are great ;)

Welcome to the forums! :band:

Good answers, above. I'd like to add a few.

Your research overflow does go into your next research. So you don't have to reduce your science rate with one turn left to completion.

Hog the resources your corporation. Sid's Sushi can use 10 fish and each one is valuable.

Your capital is a good place to look at your resources, but it also shows on the top of the diplomacy screen for resources. If you look there, you can also see if anybody has anything for trade. Resources you don't have or extra resources for your corporation will show as available from other Civs. At the very top, there's a small number on each resource. That shows how many your have.
