How do you sell buildings

Silly question but how do you sell unused buildings or buildings you just want to get rid of. Ive read people discuss selling obsolete buildings or buildings whose drawbacks are getting to big, but I cant seem to figure out how to actually do it.
 
in city menu press Ctrl + A. A menu will show you a list of buildings. Pick the one you want to sell. Additionally, you get a little amount of money.
 
Thanks that was exactly what I needed. For some reason I couldnt build the aerospace complex till I downgraded from a commercial airport to a normal airport. Seems kind of silly but w/e.
 
Note that this causes immediate OOS errors in multiplayer play.

Which is strange given the amount of work done, by Afforess, to make it MP safe. However a bug was reported with a fix on the mod component thread which may help fix the problem, or not.

Not sure if its intentional or not. It has to do with the fact that it requires an airport but a commercial airport replaces an airport. Id imagine if it was unintentional the easiest way to fix it is have it require an airport OR a commercial airport, but again not sure if it was intended that way or not.

Rats, it is one of AARanda's which means I am responsible. Which means it is a bug I will need to fix.:blush:

Edit it is worse than that - it needs 3 airports in your nation with one in the city it is to be built in. the problem is that the commercial airport replaces the airport so you may never get the three in the first place.

I admit, I've been scared to try it recently because its such a setback to get OOS errors (another 30 min to get back into the game - just having one of us log off and back into the game just leads to another OOS immediately)... but classically, that's what it caused when one of us sold a building or disbanded a city. I may get brave enough to try it again at the end of a play session at some point. I'll discuss it in the multiplayer woes section if we find its still an issue. When we were playing before, it always caused this in AND.
 
Well, if you sold the commercial airport and built a regular airport, and were just testing in single-player, I would probably put in the airport for the complex using worldbuilder, then removed the airport after (unless required, in which case the commercial would be removed).

Afforess did a lot of work to make it multiplayer safe. At least I assume it was him. It looks very different to the way Zappara and I had it back in the RoM days.

From a quick look at its code it seems to use a net message so it should be fine in multiplayer.
 
How about making WWs and NWs being sold/removed?

Just to confirm, you guys were right... happily, no OOS errors! I'm hoping it would work as well if I removed the city this way too but since the one function to sell was fixed I'd say it'd probably be fine. Sorry for blowing a false, outdated alarm there!
 
Funny, I figured it out completely through trial and error and yet I never found a need for it. The drawbacks for certain buildings have been completely negligible at least with my strategy.
