My city states are under attack by German. I really need to give unit to them. Anyone know how?

And risks getting heavy warmonger status... It is better when on Civ 5, we can help City States, without directly involved on the war. Thus we're playing international politic warfare.

Frankly, gifting units didn't really work in Civ V. The CS was more likely to park gifted units off to the side (or in the water), or delete them altogether, than use them.

Nevertheless, this is going to be useful when you're able to help city-states without having full front war. So we're creating something like the Cold War in real life.

I did find a way to stop a CS from being attacked. I was suzerain of a certain CS that another country was attacking. So I moved a bunch of scouts and other units to surround the CS so the other country couldn't reach it. I didn't want to go to war with the other country, and this is the only way I could think of.

It worked! My units stayed there for dozens of turns, but eventually the other country just left the CS alone.

You had to do the same thing in Civ V for a CS ally or friend. You could surround the CS with your own forces and stymie the attacker.

City States in CiVI create so many military units .... I would think they'd be pretty safe most of the time.

They dont have to put production in settlers and need few builders so the rest of production goes into units. They can usually fight equal to an ai civ that is not directly attacking them (i had a CS i suz'd killing half Mapuche army before i arrived on the scene)

I liberated a CS once and the AI appears to have broken...the CS no longer produces -ANYTHING-.
