I play c3c v1.22 and i can't seem to get the galleys to leave the coast squares until navigation but people keep talking about sending out suicide galleys how do you force move them into sea/ocean squares?
ive never heard of such a thing as not being able to move ships at will into the ocean. you dont have the ships set to "auto-explore" mode do you? if you do i wouldnt expect them to go into the ocean by themselves - nor would you particularly want them to. its hard enough to get them across the ocean going straight across by manually moving them. so dont put them on explore. if they arent on explore and you still cant move them across then perhaps you could post a game.
You're moving the boat with go-to. You need to move the unit manually with the number pad. Go-to will abjectly refuse to leave a unit on a square where it might sink, which is what sending intrepid galleys into the great blue is all about.
oh ok i see hehe never thought of trying that yet thank you for the welcome hehe i've read these forms for a while just haven't posted anything before.

That's not exactly accurate. Go-to will work when you're moving one square at a time. At least, it works with the mouse-go-to commands. I'm guessing it would be the same with hitting 'G' and selecting a spot.
I once lost 16 galleys and 2 Caravels in a single game trying suicide missions. I could see the tip of someone's borders, but only managed to succeed 1 turn before I discovered navigation. :/
