How do you turn off that annoying 'Your leader and current date" popup?

You know, the thing that pops up every turn or so, going right across your screen.

I know I'm playing as Victoria! Shut up, dammit!

It's not really trying to tell you who you are. It's trying to remind you to hit the end of turn button. Perhaps it should say "Hit the button, dummy!" instead of a polite banner, just to be clear.

There shouldn't be a banner at all. What, it thinks I'm stupid? I know how to press a turn button. Especially since it pops up as the AIs are thinking about their moves. Civ 4 didn't do anything like that...it wasn't neccesary.

Dammit. Now I sound like a fanboy.

For me it comes up at the beginning of each of my turns, right after the AI has finished. Like it's telling me to go ahead and make my moves. I too, wish you could turn it off.

I barely even notice it anymore.

You guys should log in more hours :p

Don't you realize that the banner is there to wake you up, after you fall asleep waiting for all the AI Civs and AI City States to process their part of the current turn? I've heard that it can take several minutes to do this processing each turn in the end game when numerous units need to be moved (though this might be on machines with marginal specifications).

It's not you they consider stupid but others who space out and would wait forever. I only get it when the AI turn ends and I have no actions to do, so yeah, several times it has brought me out of an inattention stupor as I wait for the AI to finish and then need to hit enter. Sorry it bothers you, but it does help others, if that is any consolation.
