How does one do a custom avatar?

I have an image that I want to make as a custom avatar. I have it on Photobucket and as a straight file. But in the Edit avatar menu, I couldn't find any custom options, even though I know people have custom avatars. Is there a post requirement for that?

You need 30 post and to have been a member for 30 days to enable custom avatars.

In the good old days, no one has a customized avatar at all. We all got a Civ2 phalanx or archer or etc, depending on postcount.

I think you do get to upload an av when you get to 10,000 posts. It's only 1x1 pixel, but you get to choose the color!

10,000 posts wasn't reached unitl 04 IIRC. Curtsibling was the first to reach 10,000.
