How many Ai civs do you play against?

I usually play with 12-16 or so, but in my current TSL game I started with 22--which is now down to ~15 due to early warfare and the fact that I maaaaaay have deliberately overstocked the Balkans and Balkan-adjacent civs--while I chill out in Norway and watch the Continent eat each other alive.

The max possible. Never feels right to me if i leave a certain civ or civs out.

I pick standard amount depending from map size. Small with four AI is fun.
