The difference is that Norway, Iceland and Norway are completely independent, while Greenland and the Faroese islands are granted home rule by the Danish government:

You yourself mentioned the number 193. Well, there are 193 sovereign states in the world according to the wikipedia link, so I assumed(and still assume) that by "country" you were referring to "sovereign state". And no, they are not considered among the 193 sovereign states(or countries if you like) in the world.

Let's agree to disagree, it's contentious anyway, but suffice to say there are no lists of countries that do not include Greenland. Whether that means they are a country or not is in the eye of the beholder, I say they are. I say their autonomy as a state makes them a country, it appears the number of countries in the world, being listed as 192 is agreed by the CIA, 193 by wiki and the UK and therefore I have no problem with accepting its country status.
