How much else do you think they'll fix in BNW?

Don't get me wrong, I love the new culture mechanics and tourism and civs and all that, but I still feel like the game needs more improving than just adding stuff.

Bazookas will help with the late game lack of ranged units and XCOM squads for paratroopers (even though it pains me to say that name), but I think there is still a lot of unexplored territory in the information era. Most units are still dead ends, like marines and melee naval units/carriers. It would be nice to have a supercarrier unit that could hold like 5 modern air units for naval battles, as well as a unit that acts like a melee ship but is tougher than a submarine. (also, why can't the carrier carry bombers and fighters but only GW bombers and fighters? Makes no sense). Maybe include Seals for a late game marine force, something to add diversity to the late game.

More promotions would also be good. I think it's a pity that most civs only get them on their UU's. I would like some promotions from CIV warlords to carry over or perhaps one that gives ranged units +20% damage against naval units, or upgrades that give it more strength when fortified. I think it's pretty boring going open terrain/rough terrain level 3 just to get the good upgrades and only having those upgrades be situational.

Finally, I want to see more developed AI in combat. For example, if they see that they are engaging in a choke and letting 3 units per turn die while funneling in without attacking at all, it's probably a good idea to stop attacking. It pains me to see the AI be so clumsy with its units and warfare seems more like pushing away a zerg rush. While they did have a peace negotiations patch a while ago I think it would be a good idea to tweak it a little bit to allow even the most bitter civs to give more than white peace at times.

How much of any of this do you think they'll add? Or are they too focused on adding stuff to pay attention to the smaller problems?

I hope chariot archor upgraded into crossbows (although it is very against logic) unless it is the Arabian or Mongolian UUs. Same for these two UU, they should upgrade to gatling guns. This is for game play purpose. so all promotions are lined up.

Later era units I personally don't care.

Oh, yes. I personally think you should be able to choose which path to upgrade to like in IV, or perhaps have the ranged promotions automatically change to melee attack promotions, as well as logistics to blitz. But I would prefer both.

With ideologies coming so late I really wish the late game will last longer. I also hope for changes to Dutch and Indian UAs.

Canals were cool, I miss them. I also seem to recall road tunnels through mountains, though I may be thinking of a mod for that.

Most people fail to realize that the unit actually DOES keep the attack bonus in flat/rough terrain when upgrading from Chariot Archer into Knight.

Afaik it shows the bonus, but it doesn't work.

-I'd like the game sound be muted when I Alt-Tab out of the game...
-I'd like to be able to permanently delete unwanted instances of the Civ5_Opening_Movie_xx_XX.wmv as well as the Read Mes in every damn language (461+ MB permanently wasted)..
-Put in parentheses what 3/4/5 Billion Years means (more or less mountains?) concerning the World Age setting (maybe same for other options).
-Improve the pulldown menu when choosing an enemy civilization/leader... this is just so painful at the moment.

I second this. If I get a Skype call in the middle of a Civ game I always end up having to explain what all the strange background noises (Moo! Surf!) are.

Most of the improvements I'd like to see relate to the AI. Specifically, this is my wish list:

- less of the insane AI city-spamming (by which I mean plopping cities down in the middle of other people's territory/miles from their own, such that building roads/harbours will be very difficult). I'm hoping that the AI happiness nerf will help to fix this.

- more intelligent combat AI - I mean really, who doesn't want to see this? G&K did bring some major improvements but I'd still like to see less of the using undefended GGs as scouts, embarking units as a doomed getaway tactic, etc.

- less 'slicey' AI - by which I mean that instead of always targeting players/AI it considers to be weak, it would a) consider teaming up to take on bigger opponents (who pose much more of a threat), and b) look to undermine opponents in less militaristic ways. This is another area that might see some modest improvement with the advent of BNW although we've seen plenty of evidence of AI CS-slicing (which always annoys me as there is usually no way to specifically tell an AI off for killing one of your allies - the 'I've attacked your pet city-state, what are YOU going to do about it?' message doesn't seem to come up all the time, even if you have pledged to protect the CS in question...)

One other thing that happens when I play (I'm sure this came in when I got Gods and Kings) is that if I uncover a tech bonus from a goody hut, it'll first of all pop up with the new tech, then after that's been done, it tells me that I've discovered a new tech. Surely it should be the other way round?

Yes, that is quite annoying. I do seem to recall that one of the patch notes talked of them addressing this issue, but if they changed anything, they didn't solve it completely, because it also happens to me.

As regards aricraft carriers, you may be in luck - upgrades for aircraft carriers up to 5 planes has been mentioned as in in one of the threads. There are so many now, I am afraid I cannot for the life of me remember which one though...

At the risk of sounding boring, the only thing I really want to see improved is multiplayer. I will buy the expansion only once I see evidence that MP has received at least a little attention. I just hope it doesn't mean I will not buy the expansion, well, at all. I'm cautiously optimistic, but unlike G&K, I am not automatically buying BNW (no matter how awesome it turns out to be...).

Eventually, I would be happy to see viable multiplayer modding as well, although I'm willing to wait a bit longer for that, and my purchase doesn't ride on it.

As for other changes - it's mostly minor things. Canals would be great. More uses for Admirals would be welcome as well (I wouldn't mind giving them the ability to create Canals, actually). Some rebalancing of land units might help. All in all, however, I am satisfied with Civ as is.
