How much harder is Civ3 when on a medium to huge map?

i dont think that huge maps are so much as harder as much as the fact that your empire happens to be bigger so demands more attention and also more enemies\allies you have to deal with and also the larger amounts of resources to capture. So all in all its mor or less more to deal with rather then harder, if you were to get a smaller empire on a huge map then it would seem easyer

also with the speed thing i would assume that has to do with the fact the game is eating up more space and is useing more of your space it would go slower due to that

I seem to be able to do better on a larger map, probably due to the proliferation of trading partners, but the F4 screen really bites it, and I generally don't have the patience for all the movements.

I see so many people that say larger maps are harder, but I always find the opposite to be true for the basic reason that if I am attacked by a neighbor, I can usually draw one or more civs into the war (their neighbors) on larger maps, which may not be even as strong as my new enemy, but still draw units away long enough for me to position my forces for better defense, or more often, better offense. This way, I can compete with civs that are much stronger than me.

SsS: Welcome to CFC.

On my Previous PC (667 Mhz CPU) I'd only have Civ opened and the taskmanager. My CPU was working at 100% for 5 upto 10 minutes in between turns.

On my 2,8 Ghz CPU it's unusual if it takes more than 15 seconds (animations off and not counting messages). I think it's the calculations the CPU has to do which slows you down.

I warmonger a lot of huge maps. Just have short war untill you get railroad, then all out rampage.

On small and tiny just build warrors and settlers. No city improvemest. After you get iron pop rush a barrack for upgrade.

I always play on huge maps, its more fun for me.But wars are hard on huge maps because the AI has tons of cities with at least 2-3 good defensive units in each city.

Large and Huge maps are harder, especially at higher difficulties, because at monarch and above the ai is better at expanding then u can be...
