I didnt know where to put this, but a moderator can merge it if be. I thought someone else may find it useful.

1. Download and launch Process Monitor. It's free.
2. Make sure Process Monitor is running ok. Next, open your game. And then open a savegame. Once you do that you can close it.
3. Now, in Process Monitor, open the filters. Next, go to Filter > Filter. And then you put in ProcessName > Is > and the process name of the game.
4. There will be a LOT of things. So you can use the filters to exclude some of them. Most of the time it'll be useful to limit the operation to ReadFile.
5. After a while you'll be likely to find where the process was accessing the savegame and it'll give you the path.

I hope someone else finds this useful. (One of my games dumped its savegames in Public Documents? weird)

EDIT: THough this takes a while. Sometimes its easier to check the regular locations -- on Vista, ProgramData and User/AppData. And dont forget the VirtualStores whatever those are

Probably just easier to look at the folders.

Yeah but sometimes they put them in very strange locations (e.g. one of my horse games put it under C:\Users\Aimee\AppData\Roaming\Macromedia\Director MX 2004... I guess the game was made with Macromedia?)

I never could find my save games for Baldur's Gate (tutu) in order to import into Baldur's Gate 2 (using Windows 7 btw). Windows 7 can be annoying in this regard. This could help me out, thanks.
