How To Get in A MP or PBEM game if you r a newbie

GPS ---> wxwindmill

Did some more exploring, built some more roads, built up my army a little! Looking for a location for another city. Managed to avoid a world war for now! :king:

Very Nice use of Diplomacy.

I was put in a position by a PM for another game about contact between tribes who have never meet in game. The question was the trading of information, maps, etc. So I went to post#18 here.

The Prime Rule.
Rule #1 All agreements (diplomatic) should only be done if and when they can be done in the game. In other words, don't make an MPP in principle until you have the tech and communication to do so.

I believe you should be able to trade maps when you have a embassy built. To a point. For the use of showing borders or claim boundaries.

What does every body think?

This was a good year for the Aztecs. We get a free Technology from a goodie hut. Also our Jaguar Warrior, struggling through marsh and jungle, has spotted the border of a Japanese city.

Blaze, I would have to say no to sharing of maps. I think there is nothing wrong with the reason you did it (to show me which river you were talking about, rather than, say, pointing out a location to a resource or enemy unit), but I don't think screenshots should be allowed until mapmaking. Just my opinion though (oh, I know the river you mean now ;) )

Good turn. Progress continues on the Japanese Empire. Bit more exploring. Found some good locations for more cities..

Hey,

Maybe I should have drawn a crude map of the rivers and scan them.

But my point is even the most basic contact between humans is to likely involve directions and crude maps in the dirt. With a embassy the lands between the nations should be known to both. (Which in this case I know we have both seen the lands.) Also add I did blackout the territory to just show the rivers. Just the Facts.

Map Making to me means that a nations map is now a National Secret. Much like the Trade route maps of the Middle Ages.

For example: Having a map showing the location of Iron. It would take you 15 turns to get a city there. Now you nieghbor doesn't have Iron either and is only 10 turns from getting a city there. There is no way I would trade a map. Or I should say it would "cost ya!"

Quarky quote...Found some good locations for more cities..

I hope its not down by the Old Fish'n Hole!!! :D

Lastly. The GAM-100k game is over with a Cultural Win in 1536AD. As Naruto would say...

I have to agree with Quarky on map sharing. It should not be done until you have the required Tech ingame.

Our Jaguar Warrior takes a cautious peek over the Japanese border. :)

Looked for Graybeard's borders ;)

Founded another city in the glorious Japanese Empire. Explored further north.

No hurry on upcoming set of turns -- the game will stall with me next time. Been up since 10pm last night. Need some . I should be able to play tonight before going to work.
Last time spotted a barb so went looking for his camp but instead spotted a goody hut (probably be barbs anyway:rolleyes:). New?? landmass in sight -- maybe the Iroquois are on the trail of meeting some new people.

In the manner of civilized nations, the Aztecs have opened an Embassy in the Japanese capital. :D

Not wanting to trespass and cause an international incident, our Jaguar Warrior heads back north after finding his way compltely blocked by the Japanese border. :gripe:

Explored further north. Found the borders of the Aztecs. Further troop build up (for defensive purposes).

Landmass reported earlier looks like it might be just a penisula.
Have 2 settlers on the march. Anybody got any boats out yet?? Not me I'm a few towns and many years from getting a boat in the water. Traded techs with France.

Must admit, I was wondering if you were on one landmass with the PC, and the three of us were on another. Going to be interesting to see the map.

I will be away from 1:00 pm to around 6:00 or 7:00 pm today. Just thought I would let you know so you are not sitting around waiting for a turn to come.

ps. No boats here yet and it will be a while before I get any.
