Hello, I've just started looking into this excellent mod, but I have a question regarding maps.

The problem that I always have with Civ is that I'm looking for an "interesting" map to play on. By interesting, what I mean is something that has varied coastlines, islands and continents that aren't just "blobs" of land. In other words, a "not-Earth" map that has the same sort of geographical diversity that Earth has.

What would you recommend to achieve this? I've tried using PW2, but it seems that more often than not I'm getting giant Pangea blobs (even with break Pangeas turned on).

I just starting using C2C_Tectonics(Because DH said it was a good mapscript), it has a "somewhat" realistic look of Earth but not totally like it, plus it has other options also like water, temperature, lakes, Old World start etc etc. . . SO

Archipelago with low sea levels and many islands. The choice between archs or snakey continents is then a matter of how many AI you want and how many "neighbors" you will find early. On a Huge Arch I paly with 12 AI, Low Seas, Many islands and Archs for main landmasses. If I choose Snakey continents on the same map set up I will reduce the AI to 10.

Now my way of playing generally gives you some isolation to start with and you won't know the AI's progress till you get rafts and kayaks to start exploring. So if you Need AI interaction sooner Up the starting AI.

Another good map is the Lakes Map. With it though the Naval aspect is reduced. To help mitigate that somewhat you need to set it to High sea levels (maxes out the lakes to small landlocked seas that will occasionally connect. Or can be connected by a city or a fort.) Adain how soon do you want to meet your "neighbors" determine the amount of AI.

And one more is Perfect Mongoose, break Pangaea with meteor strikes (this helps form continents), many rivers, start Everywhere vs Old World ( I prefer the Everywhere because I'm not into earth like maps any more).

There are other good maps too, so you really need to play some Fast game speed games on different one to get a feel for them. Then when you've narrowed your play style map list go for longer game speed or not.
