just took a city with no problems. revolt in 3 turns. this sucks.

i can't play this game if i don't know how to go around loyalty problems :(

Ways around it:
-put in a governor. That should at least move it from 3-4 turns to revolt out to 6-7
-Capture more cities - having Seville + Barcelona would help each other better than just Barcelona
-Don't conquer the middle of someone's empire while in a dark age (if I'm reading the indicator panel correctly in the bottom corner)
-Don't worry about a city revolting. Seriously, you can take it back later, don't be afraid to abandon it, let it revolt, capture another city, and come back to it after.

In your case, from the map above, I would probably have left the Spanish alone until a little later. You've got Torres del Paine in a clear spot that you could have gone to settle, and lots of land nearby. I think you would have been better served to take the era to settle out the area and build up 5-6 cities, and then waited until knights or coursers to truly invade the Spanish. Alternately, you don't even have to worry about capturing them - you could have just sent in your chariots to pillage everything in their lands to keep building up your gold and faith balances.

I probably would've started with Valencia and then moved west from there. Capturing a city in the middle of another civ's empire is going to result in a lot of pressure from the nearby population in the surrounding three cities (at least 16 points in this case assuming both you and Spain are in a normal age but potentially even more than that).

Governors are a huge help here, especially Victor as he not only buffs the loyalty of the city he's in, but with one promotion (Garrison Commander) he can also buff the loyalty of nearby cities that he's not in as well.

I was going to suggest using the policy card Limitanei (military units garrisoned in a city grant +2 loyalty).
Maybe buy a Monument (they're cheap) as well?
Any governor thrown in that city will net you +8 loyalty per turn, even if you haven't unlocked Victor or Amani yet.

In a strict sense nothing, but it's a matter of taste. It's a bit goofy.
Civ tend to create their civilization on things that each civ is well known for- Canada for ice hockey and Scotland for golf course. Brazil got street carnival. You could say it is also goofy.

Why would you bring up sims out of nowhere? The game got problems, there's no denying that.
Because what he said is eerly similar to what Sims community says when each expansion pack comes out.

The capital exerts more loyalty pressure compared to other cities, so take it into consideration. Conquering a very basic city right next to their cap, while at the same time so far from your lands, is asking for a city flip.
You build pressure with population (from your city and others around), amenities, monuments, some buildings and governors. Victor is a good choice to minimize loyalty problems in conquered cities, as he establishes in 3 turns and can be promoted to generate loyalty in surrounding cities. But Id say the safest way to hold is to plant a city with good growth tiles close to your desired target, chop some food if you want to boost it fast and start picking the closest cities. Regularly check the loyalty lens so that you can determine what you need to do next.
Also, Im not seeing any tile improvements in your starting cities, you need to tap into those resources (especially those amenities you havent improved and the pastures, considering you are playing as GK). You are missing out on critical resources (and eurekas and inspirations) which will boost your progress significantly.

Several Great Generals also have abilities that permanently boost the loyalty in a city (consumes the general).

Some Great Admirals have similar abilities. Both are great for stealing a few key cities off of another Civ to keep as your foreign 'colonies'.
